Helium knew something in the early aughts. This is the proof. Every seam edge on this jacket is a decision — fringe at the collar (three rows, intentional), fringe along the chest panel curves, fringe at the shoulder epaulettes, fringe tracing the hem, fringe mapping the entire back in a structural H. Clear point of view. Military silhouette. Cropped. Double-breasted gunmetal snaps. The fit is body-aware — waist pulls in before the hem breaks out. In ramie-cotton with a thread of spandex for memory, this holds its shape without being stiff. Wear it over a slip. Wear it under nothing else. This is the jacket you would recognize from across the room.

55% ramie, 42% cotton, 3% spandex. Cropped military silhouette. Double-breasted snap front with gunmetal hardware. Multi-row frayed fringe trim at collar (three rows), shoulder epaulettes, chest panel curves, side seams, hem, and back H-panel inset. Unlined. Raw interior seams. Snap closures at cuffs.

Condition

Excellent vintage. No visible flaws, fading, staining, or damage. Fringe intact throughout. Hardware clean.

Helium was a New York-registered label active in the early 2000s, sold through specialty boutiques and department stores. RN# 40531. Known for denim construction with architectural detailing. This piece predates the deconstructed denim trend by a decade.
